COMMUNITY FARM PROJECT

 

THIS IS A GREAT GROUP OUT OF PHILIDELPHIA THAT BRINGS RESPONSIBLE FARMING PRACTICES TO PENNSYLVANIA.

 Three years ago, a group of concerned parents with young children, all from very different backgrounds, came together to create Greener Partners as a way to take action toward building an alternative to the current disconnected, industrialized food system. The goal was simple: to roll up our sleeves and establish real, tangible community-based farms and experiential gardens with the goal of bettering our children’s access to healthy food, improving our community’s connection to its farms and food, and advancing our ability to act as stewards for the sake of our fragile planet. This strong urge to build individual knowledge and community wellness through our food has resonated with countless others in what has become a truly collaborative effort to move our region back towards holding a closer relationship with our land and to celebrate the wonderful food that is derived from it.

From this grassroots, on-the-ground movement, access to nutrient-rich food grown on vibrant working landscapes within our densely-populated region is again a reality. The impact of the local food movement is real. But we are still only beginning this journey towards a better food system, one with thriving farms embedded within our communities that provide our children and families with food to nourish our bodies and fuel our souls. We hope you too will join us on this journey!
